New England Kids Triathlon

Unfortunately, our 9th annual New England Kids Triathlon event will have to wait until 2021. Get the latest on our COVID-19 response. Learn more

As you might imagine, this breaks our hearts. At the same time, we completely understand our partners at MIT, the City of Cambridge and the New England Patriots all have higher priorities. They love our event and have been incredible supporters since we held our first kids triathlon in 2011. At the same time, they have to make decisions that are right for their organizations and for the overall health of the community.

We are in 100% agreement with this approach and extend their focus to the safety and well-being of our participants, fans and volunteers. If we work together and stay focused, we will lessen the impact of COVID-19 across New England and be able to return to the lifestyle we love much sooner.

In fact, we have already begun planning for July 2021!

Thanks again for your incredible support of the New England Kids Triathlon. It is with a heavy heart we share this information. At the same time, we know there are many others - starting with our first responders - who are doing so much more to keep us healthy and safe.

Also, we know we are in this together, and we hope you will be able to fill your summer with swimming, biking and running as we all look ahead to a better 2021. Take care and be safe.

The 2020 Organizing Committee

This program has quickly become one of the hallmarks of the New England Kids Triathlon. During 2020, it will enable us to engage more than 12,000 students across New England in discussions about the importance of being healthy, active and responsible. And, it will result in donations of more than $7,000 back to schools to support their on-going efforts to motivate kids to exercise every day and watch what they eat.

The primary goal of these programs is to encourage kids to do something healthy and active with their friends. Most participants in the New England Kids Triathlon are first-time triathletes, though more than 80% of the kids elect to participate again the next year. Every finisher gains a huge sense of accomplishment, and everyone involved experiences a tremendous amount of pride. For the first time, many kids are able to represent their school and to help it earn money to fund new equipment and new programs.
